Lucky dogs
The
fairy tale doesn't always end with the hero/heroine riding off into the sunset but these dogs
have been given another chance. We don't always know where they go, but when we do hear
anything, we will try to pass on the news. This month 10 dogs found new homes, many of them
going to agility homes so watch out them on the show circuit.
Dogs are featured in alphabetical
order.

Annie is no longer looking for a home.
(08/04/11) |
ANNIE
History:
Annie was a stray from
Ireland. She arrived at
Dogs Trust centre in Sept 2010 and was re-homed to a single mum, with four young kids.
Mum couldn’t cope with Annie’s level of activity. She was returned to Dogs Trust after
two weeks, then re-homed again with us on 6 January.
Her level of
energy is beyond our ability to satisfy her needs. We would love to find her the home she
deserves.
Description:
Annie is a Terrier mix. She is very intelligent, has immense energy, agility, speed, and
curiosity. She is good natured, loves playing with other dogs. Very active during the day
but settles well and happily at night where she sleeps in her crate that she loves.
Rehoming criteria: We
think Annie would be ideal for agility training. She loves to be with other dogs, and
needs a home where will receive lots of stimulation and company of other dogs and humans
and with someone used to dealing with Annie’s level of energy.

Description:
Axel is a blue merle collie who is approximately 6 months of age,
he is an affectionate dog who will make a great companion. He knows basic commands and
ideally will need a home where some once can provide him with guidance and training to
help him reach his full potential.

Charity has gone to a home where they want to do Canine Cross Country and possibly
agility with her.
(02/04/11) |
CHARITY
History:
Charity came into our care late December after being in a car accident. She needed
extensive specialised surgery which she received from one of the country’s top
orthopaedic surgeons. Charity is now back to 100%, and is actively seeking a new home.
Description:
Charity is a beautiful black & white collie who loves to play ball. She enjoys walks and
energetic play. After all she has been through, Charity still remains a sweet natured
young lady.
Rehoming criteria: Charity
would be perfectly suited for agility training. She loves the company of other dogs, and
needs an active family who will offer the level of stimulation and social contact someone
of Charity’s energy requires. RSPCA Surrey Woking & District Branch requires a pre-home

Lily the pocket
rocket terrier has been rehomed. Thank you for helping find her a suitable home.
(08/04/11) |
LILY
History:
None.
Description:
Lily is a little pocket
rocket. She adores life and finds the world an exciting and interesting place to be
explored at top speed! Her enthusiasm and lust for life is infectious and she will make
the most wonderful, comical companion to brighten your day. Lily is living in foster care
with other dogs and is a very happy go lucky member of the pack. She loves to play and is
having to learn some canine manners about when play is acceptable and when it is
unwanted. She is a confident and well socialised puppy who is not phased by dog se meets
out on walks. She is a clever girl motivated by food and toys.
Rehoming criteria: Lily is looking
for a new home who have previously owned dogs and preferably terriers. She is an active
and busy dog who could excel at any training discipline once she is old enough. Agility,
flyball, obedience would all be right up her street.
Child friendly: Lily will not be rehomed with children under the age of 8.
She does mouth and play bite and children she lives with need to be old enough to
understand how to handle this and continue to provide her with feedback on how to use her
jaws appropriately so that she learns bite inhibition.
Able to live with cats: Lily has
not been seen with cats or small furries. As a terrier she could have a stronger tendency
towards chasing. However, she is young enough to learn to live with cats. Introductions
would have to be careful and training methods would need to be positive and hands off.

History:
Lucy came to the shelter through no fault of her own as her owner could no longer care
for her.
Description: Lucy is very
energetic and loves to chase a ball. We have also tried her on the agility equipment at
the shelter and she has great potential as she is a very quick learner and loves her
walks and play. Lucy is an affectionate girl who can be a little nervous until she gets
to know you.
Rehoming
criteria: She needs a stable home where someone can help build her
confidence and with a little training could be a fantastic dog for any agility
enthusiast. Lucy is looking for a home where people are about most of the day and can
give her the active lifestyle she needs. She has lived with cats and rabbits before and
is ok around dogs but would prefer to be the only dog in the household.

History:
This dear little pup was dumped and found in a drive way in a shopper trolley wrapped up
in a
dirty, musty stinky blanket....Why! He has done his 7 days - not claimed so we are now
hoping to fin him a loving forever home.
Description:
As you can see he is only a puppy and is full of fun and just loves playing with his
toys, he is none the worst for wear from his terrible ordeal. He gets on fine with other
dogs, loves cats, great with people and children...but then he is only a puppy.

Pixie has gone to a farming home.
Lucky girl! (02/04/11) |
PIXIE
History:
Pixie was rehomed from
North Wales, she is just under 2 years old, has had at
least 7 homes and a litter of puppies already, yet she’s a remarkably balanced, relaxed
dog. A real sweetheart, ready to blossom in a new forever home.
Description:
Black and tan kelpie, very, very calm in the house and great with young children. She
really ‘comes to life’ outside and loves a good bound around, but does have that elusive
‘off switch’! Showing intelligence and drive, she is growing in confidence daily and is
incredibly responsive. She’s been reported as not liking loud, young lads (dread to
think why…) and whilst she hasn’t shown aggression, she will bark and back away – I’m
sure this is through past experiences and can be worked through. She is nervous of new
people but soon overcomes this and has been happy to play with strangers. She has shown
no interest in chasing livestock and has generally been a little star!
Rehoming
criteria: Best
to be rehomed with other dogs, has been fine with both dogs
and bitches. Needs a job to do, like any kelpie, but is probably as well suited to an
active family home as an agility home.
Child friendly: Yes
- brought up around babies and young children. Currently on foster with a 4 month old

SMILER
History:
Smiler came over from
Ireland, he was found as a stray so
we have no previous history.
Description:
Smiler is short-coated with feathering, mainly white with red patches and a red tri head.
A happy lad who is always smiling at you, especially when he is being naughty! He is so
happy with life, loves other dogs and people, and wants to learn and do anything, he has
had very little training, and all he knows is sit and paw, he is very good on the lead.
Rehoming criteria:
Smiler will need
someone around for part of the day, he will need house training although he is clean in
his kennel. He will need someone who will give him the training he so craves, and set
firm boundaries for this happy go lucky lad. He will want an owner who loves cuddles as

(06/04/11) |
TASHI
History:
I took in Tashi for two weeks fostering but owing to
circumstances beyond my control she has been left with me.
Description:
Tashi is a small, affectionate, pretty terrier type girl. She knows basic commands and
has a good recall. She has lived with a variety of other dogs without problems, she is a
little nervous when first meeting new dogs but is fine once she knows they aren’t going
to hurt her. She is fine with my two collies despite the fact they would rather she
wasn’t there. She does try to play them but they just aren’t interested!
Rehoming criteria: Tashi would love
a playmate, she loves everyone, young and old and would like an active home where she
would get lots of cuddles. She loves her food and toys so would be very trainable. She is
a lively, agile little dog who would enjoy agility.
