Small dog of any breed for Junior handler We are looking for a small dog any breed or cross, aged between 6 months and about two years, for my ten year old daughter as her own dog will soon be retiring. She is an established handler and at the moment competes at Grade 2/ She has been handling for four years and has qualified for the YKC Agility and Jumping at Crufts both in the past and this year. The dog must get on with other dogs as we have five American Cocker Spaniels and be very good with children as I also have a five year old daughter. Advice on Barking Dog Please is there anyone who can give me some advice on stopping my WSD from consistently barking while waiting his turn in our agility class. It also happens when there are other collie type dogs running his pulls and barks uncontrollably. I have tried a spray collar - it worked for a couple of weeks but he became use to it - plastic bag, stones in bottle, squeaky toy and am now at a loss. He is three years old and we have been doing agility for about a year now. We both love it, but I feel stressed when we are training and embarrassed that we are a nuisance to other people and dogs in our class. Please, please any advice or help would be greatly appreciated. Wheels for dogs I've a friend who has an 8 year old black alsation who has a rear leg problem. Although his mind is 100% alert, the old rear end doesn't function too well these days. Lift sharer wanted I was wondering if there was anyone who lives in or close to Mere - where I am situated - or Gillingham/Wincanton who would be willing to give me a lift to some further away agility shows, as I have difficulty getting to them because my parents can't really drive me . I'm 14 years old and currently train at Tolnedra dog training. I have a Grade 1 Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever who is very well behaved and a 10 month old Border Collie who is getting there, but is still rather puppyish! At least until September/October I would only be taking the Toller as the collie won't be old enough to compete. Of course, I would pay for costs etc. I would be extremely grateful if anyone could help. Thank you. Knee popping problem... I have a two year old Kromfohrlander (like a Parsons jack Russell) who has managed regularly, to pop a knee out. This does not hurt the dog noticeably. All that happens is she runs on 3 legs, holding her rear right leg out at 90 degrees, for about 20 seconds and the knee pops back. This Xmas break it has happened every day on our off lead walks in the forest. When it pops back in she runs away again as if nothing was ever wrong - without a sign of any limping. She does not hold back but fires on all four cylinders like a whippet. It has got worse this winter than it ever was before, when it only happened once a week. She is being X-rayed on Friday when we will decide over the coming weeks what to do with her. The vet can float her knee to the side of her joint quite easily and put it back. It might be a ligament problem or a bone problem where the ridge the knee fits into is not big enough. University student hoping to find
a way to keep up with her agility I'm Charlotte Horgan and I'm at Durham University Sadly I've not been able to bring my dog up with me. I'm missing dogs and agility far more than I expected! I've competed for over 10 years and got to Senior when I was 13. I've qualified for numerous finals including YKC Agility Dog of the Year and am a UKAgilty qualified judge. Am hoping that someone goes to/knows of a club that I'd be able to get to as I don't have a car either in walking distance of Durham centre/chance they could give me a lift. Information on a cruciate
ligament problem
Ramsey, my 4 ½ year old crossbreed has a cruciate ligament problem on the back left leg. How it actually happened we know not and he does not need surgery as the joint is stable but he has now been on collar and lead exercise for about three months. After a check up with his vet who is pleased with his movement, he still needs more collar and lead exercise only time because each time we come back from a walk he limps quite badly for a while with it gradually improving over time. I give him Vitamin Research Nutri-joint powder and cod-liver oil, spriulina and chlorella.
