JANUARY 2010
	Kiln Agility Training Society is looking for instructors to train our members KATS is made up of a variety of members from beginners to advanced. Some compete, but our ethos is all about fun. We are a non-profit making organisation run by volunteer committee members. We train on a Wednesday night indoors in Church Crookham, in between Aldershot and Fleet in Hampshire. We are always looking for 'new blood' and the most modern training techniques. Although we train mainly for fun, we teach to competition standards so that any members who wish to, can compete. 	Agility judge for Dally Show The North of England Dalmatian Club is looking for someone to judge at their forthcoming Limited Agility Show - dalmatians only, 3 classes. The show being held at Bingley Hall, Stafford on Sunday, 18 July 2010. This is a fun show so it will be a short day. The Judge is required to bring a sense of humour with them. E. Yorkshire	Our club is looking for new venue in East Yorkshire or thereabouts Due to relocation East Yorkshire AC is urgently looking for an area of land to rent or buy to run our agility club from. We are currently based at Catfoss, East Yorkshire and would love to stay within the local area but will move further if the venue is right. We currently require access on a Sunday 12.30 until 4.30 during the winter and on a Wednesday 5.30 until 9.30 during the summer ( if the venue had indoor facilities we would ideally train on a Wednesday night all year round). We would require parking for 10 - 20 cars (the numbers vary each week and may increase moving forward). 	Agility dog nominated for Pet Factor is looking for your vote Scrooble, an eight year old border collie from Central Scotland has been shortlisted in the Pet Health Pet Factor competition. He missed out on going to Crufts in 2006 as he was diagnosed with lymphoma. After a long period of chemotherapy he pulled through and is back in action again. He managed to get to Crufts in 2008, getting through to the flyball finals and has now won enough agility points to get his KC Agility Warrant Silver. His next goal is to win his gold award. His owner Sara Hawkswell says 'He's a real star, has a fantastic temperament and loves everyone he meets - so please vote for him.' SORTED Thank you to everyone who has contacted me about tics. I am now trying Billy No Mates so will wait to see the outcome of this.	Has anyone has used or knows of any herbal alternatives for tic prevention? I rescued Blue last year from Dumfries & Galloway Canine Rescue. When he came to me his skin was red and he scratched constantly I was sure it was the Frontline because as soon as I stopped using it, his skin calmed down and the itching stopped. We're now getting back into tic season and I found and removed two tics this morning. I'd really like both my collies to have some sort of protection. 	An Urgent appeal! A doggy demonstration team needed for event on 18 April I am helping organise events at the Vale Country Fair and Point to Point on 18 April -yes, this Sunday. Temporary Foster Home	Temporary foster carer for my dog Corrie I am going to Africa to volunteer for 6 months hence need to find someone who would be willing to welcome Corrie part of his/her family. Corrie is a rescued dog. I was fostering him but decided to keep him as he has been through a lot of pain and difficult time when he was a puppy. He is a Staff X Sharpey and super friendly. I still foster dogs so he is used to see many dogs coming to his home. He is great with kids and all dogs. He is two years old so would need to exercise accordingly. As I am volunteering I cannot afford paying expensive boarding fees but obviously would pay for his food, vet fees and any other costs. Thank you in advance. 	Kittens and mum desperately seeking new loving homes The mum was brought into the veterinary surgery where I work as a stray. All the local rescue centres were full and she was facing euthanasia. 	Advice on agility dogs with missing toes! I have a very talented 4 year old collie who has a 'live fast, die young' attitude who recently, whilst chasing a ball, sprained her outside toe on her off fore. X-rays show she has damaged the ligament quite badly and, after referral to a specialist vet, we have been given three options: 1) A prosthetic ligament, 2) fusing the joint or 3) removing the digit completely. My vet has recommended the third option as this would offer a complete pain free remedy as she would never go lame on it again. They do not think it will affect her agility performance as it is not a weight bearing ligament. However, i'm sure you'll all agree this is a major decision to make as once removed you can't put it back! I would be grateful if anyone has any stories and or advice on this subject. Thank you. 	Advice/suggestions re: spayed bitch incontinence Bonnie is a 12 1/2 year old Westie bitch. Been on propalyn for ages for the above. Always seemed to do the trick until recently when the problem became much, much worse. She wets wherever she is - awake or asleep. Vet suggested a possible infection and prescribed anti-biotics. Must admit these seems to have helped a bit but she still urinates in her bed every night. Apart from the pain of having to wash (and dry) the bed at this time of year - her fur is stained -probably permanently - and her aroma is not too good. As I said, she's a Westie so constant bathing not a good idea. The vet now talking surgery. Want to avoid this if I can. Does anyone have any other solution that they know from experience works? 	Seeking advice on car safety For various reasons, I'm having to separate two of my dogs and the only space now left is the front seat of my Ford Transit next to me. 	'Best in Snow Photo Competition Yumove is running a competition to find the best pictures of dogs in the snow so, if you have any great photos of your dogs in the snow, you can enter them by going to the Yumove Facebook page. They've already had a huge response including quite a few agility dogs. The top three photos will all receive a tub of 300 Yumove for their dog and a pot of our new human joint supplement iMove for themselves. All you have to do is upload your photos onto the 'wall', and vote for their favourite photos by hitting the 'like' link in the Best in Snow album. 	Junior handlers to take part in Dogwarts program BBC Children's television is looking to do a brand new television show Dogwarts (working title) involving children and their dogs. In each episode, three children will learn to teach their dog a trick, such as skateboarding or catching a frisbee. They will be given training tips and advice from a professional dog trainer. TA9 4PE	Agility Club in Somerset I have just gone through all the clubs listed on the A-Z of Clubs & Training Groups but cannot find the one I am looking for. I know a new agility training has started in Vole Road, Mark, Somerset TA9 4PE but unfortunately I do not recall the name of the club or the trainer.
