Well done...

One of the most difficult decisions your will ever have to make in agility is when to retire your dog.  After years of playing and working together, you've built up an amazing bond and it is hard to accept that one day it has to stop. It is something that you know has to be done for the sake of your best friend, partner and pet, but it is a hard It's a decision to make.

Ruby (Ag.Ch. Blazing Red of Rujaff)

After a great career together, I would like to announce that Ruby (Ag.Ch. Blazing Red of Rujaff) will be retiring from International Agility. Our career started with winning the novice Olympia title in 2009, to then winning 7 Championship certificates, the Agility Championship Class at Crufts in 2013, representing our country on numerous occasions and then finally topped off this year by winning team silver at the FCI World Championships in Luxembourg.

As many of you know Ruby was involved in a freak accident 18 months ago and I never thought I would be able to step onto a start line again together, so to win a silver medal was a very proud moment but also a perfect time to retire her from international competitions.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who helped with her rehabilitation and also my sponsors, Genesis Pet Food, for their continued support. I'd also like to thank GB team manager Mark Laker for his kind words.

He said, 'Anthony and Ruby have been familiar faces on the international agility circuit for many years. This formidable partnership have consistently produced some great performances on the world stage and been part of the back-bone of Agility Team GB. At last years FCI World Championships, Ant & Ruby were part of the large team that won the silver medal. This was a fantastic result produced by solid, fast clear runs, something that Anthony & Ruby have displayed throughout their international career. Ruby has certainly earnt her retirement from the international scene. Thank you for your contribution over the years as part of Agility Team GB.'

Finally, and most importantly, Ruby. Not only has she been a great partner but also showing her total desire and determination throughout every step of our journey together and her unrivalled will to win. It's most certainly been a great experience. Thank you, Ruby.
