 FEBRUARY 2007

Here is the list of the winners from the Papillon Agility Final held at Golden Cross Equestrian Centre last December.

  • Starters - Kim Jenner with Sam
  • Novice - Barbara Pointer with Daisy
  • Senior - Pauline Willmot with Dandy
  • Advanced  - Dawn Weaver with Dreamer

Alison Grimes won the South of England Papillon Harlie the Magnificent Trophy for best overall Agility Papillon of the year 2006.

Registration is now open for 2007. If you have already registered just send fee of £4. If not please download form from Agilitynet.

Barbara Pointer has kindly offered to sponsor the Starters Class this year (KC points) while Angie Tydeman has kindly offered to sponsor the UKA classes.

The South of England Papillon Club will be holding the first KC registered agility show limited Papillons in July. Schedule can be downloaded on Schedules page.

 NOVEMBER 2006

The latest Papillon Agility League results below show that PAL is growing steadily. We have two new Starter dogs and they are doing very well.

This year another Senior dog has joined Pauline Willmot's Dandy as well. Lynda Stangle's Alex has moved up to Advanced.

New developments
After much head scratching, Denise has decided to keep points gained at Kennel Club shows separate from ones acquired at UKA shows due to the difference in the size of classes. The good news is that it means that there will now be two lots of rosettes on offer plus trophies.

In addition, there will be two further trophies available -

Murvagh Trophy - Best Novice Papillon

Harlie the Magnificent Trophy - Best Overall Agility Winner which Angie Tydeman won last year,

These lovely trophies are only open to members of the South of England Papillon Club, but if you wish to join the club please contact Denise Welsh.

To all competitors...
Don't forget there is a class purely for Papillons (PAL) at the C-Side Agility Show this coming November and, of course, there is the Final at Just Minis Christmas Show on 10 December.

Keep collecting those points and don't forget to send them to Denise.

Quarterly Results

League organiser Denise Welsh plans to post the results for the PAL every three months, but she says that so far the pap handlers are a bit slow off of the mark this year.

In order to encourage young handlers, Denise is creating two special classes for Junior Under 12 and Over 12.

These are the results to date.

    Starter

  • Emily Woods with Oz = 40 points

    Novice:

  • Margy Wigan with Fern = 60 points

  • Val Clarke with Echo = 52 points

    Senior:   No results so far

    Advanced:   No results so far

This picture is of Richard Partridge competing with Bandit, a ten year old rescue Papillon who is still competing today - and enjoying himself. Richard has just re-registered for the Papillon Agility League and says that Bandit already has points towards the Starter Trophy. Long may they continue to enjoy themselves.

A reminder for all Pap handlers. Don't forget to register for 2006.

Just send Denise a cheque for £4 to cover some of the costs.  Any new Papillon owner who wishes to join, download an entry form. You will be most welcome. For more information about the Papillion Agility League including the Junior classes, contact Denise Welsh, Ridgewood, 61 Hawkswood Drive, Hailsham, East Sussex BN27 1UP Tel. 01323-441583 or email: harlie@tiscali.co.uk

Points Reminder

Denise Welsh is currently putting together the first Papillon Agility League results table. Could all those pap handlers please get all their points to Denise  as soon as possible.

She said, 'I am willing to do all the work but you will need to do the rest.'

New League Launched

A new agility league for Papillons (PAL) only has been formed along the lines of some of the other ABC leagues that have appeared lately. The aim of the league is to enhance the Papillon in the world of agility and include all standards and abilities. It will run from 1 January 2005 to 11 December 2005 and annually thereafter.

Dogs/bitches may compete in the following categories:-

  1. Starter -
Dogs/handlers who have never won a class at a show

  2. Novice
Dogs who have won one class but not achieved Senior status.

  3. Senior
Dogs who have won two Agility and two Jumping classes

  4. Open
    Open to all dogs

A dog will remain in the same category for the year unless the handler requests a change upon winning out into a higher level.

The dog in each category with most points will win a trophy and rosette to be presented at Just Minis Christmas Show. Runners up will receive rosettes.

The points system will be based on 20 points for the winning dog, 19 for the second etc. All clear rounds claim one point. Points can be claimed from all Kennel Club events, all UK Agility events and unregistered shows.

Cost for entry to PAL is £4 per handler/year which will go towards trophies, rosettes, etc.

'This is the first league for Papillons only, and I do hope that everyone enjoys it. I have been thinking for some time about having a pap league, said Administrator Denise Welsh. At the moment the only classes for Papillons only will be held in December at the Just Minis Agility Show where the trophies for all points winners will be presented. I will try later on to persuade other clubs to put on at least one class for Papillons.'

All handlers should send their results so Denise keep a record of them and and also to enable her to sort out a leader board every three months. The results will be posted on Agilitynet every three months so everyone can be kept up to date.
