Pictures from the collecting ring
Every
year we have to promise the nice people in the Olympia Press Office that we won't stay
backstage for very long after the dog agility events - just long enough to talk to some of the
competitors and snap a few pictures. And every year, it's the same. The handlers memorise the
course and talk nervously to their grooms, waiting nervously for their turn. The dogs know
something special is happening. Most are alert, listening to the horses, cannons (yes, cannons)
and the announcer, who appears to know scant little about agility, leading a cheering section
of 5,000 screaming little Thelwell girls. Here is what the camera captured inside and outside
the arena.
Competitors only have a few minutes to walk the course View from the entrance to the arena Tiggy makes a succesful comeback after injury Dave on a jolly to Olympia! Even Don Cooper admitted it was a long way down the home stretch in the Speed Jumping Pat and Dodge in the spotlight Post-interview with British Eurosport. Snapped returning to her seat after walking the course. You'll get your turn, Rory. The boys are back in town! First time at Olympia, but not the last! Standard Dog Winners under the tree. On course for a mini win. Small but perfectly formed. Why do you get more mini winners under the tree than big handlers? Not forgetting the winner of the Knock Out competition. The British Agility WC2003 Team takes a bow. Up from the South Coast to support Renee & Koko Every time the crowd applauded, Moss barked. The course is posted on the wall before each run. Petra-fied of the big jumps! D'Oh. Not this Midi dog! Sue holds dark horse Chase while Diane learns the course. Super mouse flying the course Side-lined by bad knees so the wife runs Bailey now. Come'on Jackie, it's not that bad! Baby's can't wait for dinner. Don't mention her surname to the ditty dog (arghhh) announcer. Keeping calm with a cuppa and her groom before the dog agility competition. She only started running him this year! Nice to see an 'old friend at Olympia. Powerlines, the people behind the video, soon to be available. Striking the set in 2 minutes flat. Anyone for a curry after the show? Thank you Pedigree for your support.
