Best features: It is important for all of us to make our dog’s lives as happy and as comfortable as possible. This is particularly true when they are getting old, are poorly, or reaching the end of their time with us. This hammock helped to make Millie’s last few weeks with us a little more bearable. |

I was first interested in this product as it says that it helps to ease the pain that older dogs feel. I thought that Mill was getting old quickly and that her joints were packing in. She seemed to find relief in laying on the hammock. She isn’t particularly bed-orientated so I wasn't expecting her to use it, but the small effort in getting in to it seemed to be rewarded as she spent a lot of time in there. Millie became a very poorly pooch. Her kidneys and liver were packing in so I made the decision to let her go. She will be missed, with all her crazy Border Collie ways. Could be improved: The washable, plastic coating made the bed seem not too luxurious. Once I had put a vetbed on it, then it seemed v. comfy and cosy. It would be fine for young dogs and okay for kennelled dogs as it would be easy to hose down any muddy paw prints. Can be a little bit difficult for an old dog to get in and out of, but I am pretty sure that Mill thought the effort was worthwhile when she was in it. Production: Packaging was fairly basic, but it was sturdy enough to avoid damage. Comes with a bag so it is portable to take to shows, holidays etc. I imagine the cover would be easily washable – but I haven’t tried that yet. Seems to be well built and doesn’t look like it will fall to bits. It might be possible to chew it but there aren’t really any loose ends to get hold of – the dog would have to be pretty determined. Directions how to use etc. (as relevant): The hammock is lightweight, compact and easy to assemble. No tools were needed. I really didn’t need to consult the instructions. However, they were clear and easy to follow for those who might need them. |
Medium - $49.99 Large - £59.99 XLarge - £69.99 |
Price: Medium-sized is £49.99 + P&P. FOr other prices see photos on the right.
Value for Money: Erm... this is quite a tricky one for me as I would like to test the bed's longevity. However, if you have an older dog who is starting to get stiff, I would certainly say that £50 is reasonable.
Overall rating: 8/10 – a really great idea. I recommend this bed highly. I didn’t expect Mill to like it, but for her to give it the 'paws up.' it must be good. It really seemed to help her old bones.
