In foreign fields...
For the more serious competitors a trip to an agility show in France, Belgium, Scandinavia or Germany needn't involve any more travel than hauling up from the West Country for Northern Week or from Scotland down to SupaDog. For less serious handlers, it can simply add a new dimension to your holiday! So Agilitynet is starting to collect information about events in Europe and wider afield which UK handlers might like to take part in. As time goes by we hope to add more and more information about non-UK shows. For more about international agility, visit our International pages.

Two rings on both days with all our regular agility classes (introductory, preliminary, novice, open, premier, small dog), jumping classes, team events and some novelty classes. The schedule which will be available shortly. Judges for both days will be Clare and Tom Murray (England). This will be an Irish Kennel Club licensed event - all competing dogs must be registered for competition with the IKC. This is a straightforward procedure but does require contacting the IKC, www.ikc.ie or Ph. 0035314533300, for the relevant registration form and details. Registration must be completed prior to entering. The show is run in conjunction with the National Country Fair, www.countryfair.ie. This is a big country sports and craft fair with plenty to see and do whether you are competing in agility or not. We will be camping and caravanning at a nearby site where we guarantee plenty of social activity in the evenings!

(please mention Agilitynet) JULY 2005
Date: 10-16 July 2005 and 19-21 July 2005 Shows: Dania Cup at the Borrevejle Sports Centre near Roskilde, Denmark; and Semestersabotören agility competition in Linköping, Sweden Dania Cup is the competition which Toni Locke really enjoyed in 2003. And since Roskilde is just west of Copenhagen and the bridge linking Denmark and Sweden, anyone who wishes to extend their holiday can travel a bit further north to the town of Linköping in Sweden, where there will be a 3-day agility competition on 19-21 July. It is quite possible to make the journey from Roskilde to Linköping in a day by following the E4 route all the way, although anyone travelling with dogs would probably be better off stopping en route and enjoying the fabulous freedom of the Swedish "every persons' right" which allows people and dogs to walk virtually anywhere through forests and fields. If the weather is hot, there will also be lakes with public bathing sites along the route. These often have an area set aside for dogs and their owners to enjoy a splash together. Sweden was very badly hit by the same January storms which swept across Britain, and friends of mine in the area have just been told that they will have to wait for another 10 weeks before they will get their phone line back. If other people are similarly affected, it could cause a delay in further information becoming available. Source: Kerstin McDonagh
