Inspired by the success of agility leagues dedicated to handlers of breeds like German Shepherds, Weimaraners and Belgian Shepherds, and due to the increasing numbers of Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retrievers taking part in agility, a small group of Toller handlers have decided to set up a similar league.

 
Season Review 2008-2009

This has been yet another fantastic season for the Toller Agility League with a total of 22 handlers and 31 amazing duck dogs participating!

Kennel Club Show News
We would like to congratulate those who achieved a 1st place during the season, and also highlight any KC Grade changes:

Amanda Hampson was the overall winner of the 2008-2009 Toller Agility League with Minx (Winfren Vulpecula Kayla) who for the second year running achieved 16 firsts!  Minx was selected for the British Team competing at the European Open in July 2008, but was forced to withdraw the weekend before the competition when Rogue came down with kennel cough. The 2008 season ended well with Minx getting into the British Open final at the KC Festival. 

With her younger dog Rogue (Shoredancer Sea Jade) she gained a staggering 19 first places! The 2008 season was Rogue's first year competing. At her  first competition at Shrewsbury (May) she got a couple of clears and her first rosette! Rogue has had an amazing first agility season. By the end of April 2009, she had won into Grade 7, making her eligible for Championship classes. She also qualified for the Kennel Club Medium Agility Finals at Olympia in December, where she was the youngest dog in the class. She went clear in both the Speed jumping and the Agility Final, where she came 4th place.

Jane and Quito (Kymin Pleasure Zeal) started the Toller Agility Season in Grade 3, but finished the year by qualifying for Grade 5! They won 1st place at Barrow with all of their Toller friends cheering them on. Then came another 1st at Newlands in July, followed by two more 1st places in September – one at Stour Valley and the final one at Tenterden (Paws in the Park).

Debbie Thompson and Lady (Decoymans Piper Rosaland) can hold their heads high by winning a 1st place on home turf – Isle of Man Dog Obedience & Agility Club in June 2008.

Cathy Shaw and Lily (Newfanova Aurora at Shoredancer) once again qualified for the ABC (Anything But a Collie) Semi-finals at Tatton Park in June 2009, by this time winning the ABC Qualifying Class at Weardale. With her other dog with Grace (Avonwharfe Grace at Shoredancer) she had a fantastic run at Newton Heath in February 2009 where they took 1st place in Grace's very first competition, thus immediately being promoted into Grade 4!

The Agility League Tollers as a whole have gained the following KC placings

• 42 x 1^st places

• 39 x 2^nd places

• 198 x other placed rosettes

• 198 x unplaced clear rounds

Non-Kennel Club News
Well done to all who have been flying the Toller flag at independent shows. The following members have gained a 1^st place in non-KC shows.

Jane King with Quito (Kymin Pleasure Zeal) had the highest number of 1st places at Non- KC shows. They gained their first two wins at UKA Kats in May, followed by another two at UKA Scrambles in September. Jane and Quito then finished off the year with yet another two 1st rosettes at UKA Waverunner in March, giving them a grand total of six!

Frances Parslow and Chene (Jaby Oleaster) have had three non-KC 1^st places and a total of 77 rosettes which puts them now into Grade 2. This is a fantastic achievement in their first year with us to say nothing of the safe arrival of seven puppies that Chene safely delivered in December.

Juliet Dearbergh and Indie (Chadanlee Kind of Magic) also achieved three 1^st places starting with the UKA Charity Show in August, UKA Borderline in November and then finally GT UKA in December!

Gerard Redman with Teyha (Paludic Piccolo) gained their first 1^st place UKA Patternden in April, followed by a second 1^st place at Dorset Horse & Dog Show.

Jean Luckett  and Saffie (Jenkay Blue Moon)  won a 1st place at Prested Hall, Kelvedon in April.

Gill Aitken had a good day at Redgates DTC in September winning a jumping class with  Barney (Decoymans Piper Red Rascal), and then also coming 1st in Agility with Ted (Decoymans Just Joey)!

 The following places have been gained:

• 17 x 1st places

• 13 x 2nd places

•  62 x other placed rosettes

• 112 x unplaced rosettes

News of the 2007-2008 Season

It was another fantastic season for the Toller League with a total of 19 handlers and 23 dogs! There have been some outstanding performances yet again, and we would like to take this opportunity to highlight just a few: - 

• Amanda Hampson with Minx (Winfren Vulpecula Kayla)

• Selected for the British Medium Team at the Agility World Championships in Hamar, Norway in October 2007 – the British Team came second!

• Won their very first Agility CC at Chippenham – March 2008!

• Gained the title of Champion of Champions! 2007/08 at  Northern Agility Winter Series (Unaffiliated Agility Competition)

• Cathy Shaw with Lily (Newfanova Aurora at Shoredancer)

• Qualified for the 2008 Kennel Club ABC Semi final with a 3^rd place at Weardale show in July 2007.

• Gill Aitken with Ted (Decoymans Just Joey)

• Invited to take part in the Burgess Supa Dog Large Starters Final which was held in June 2007 – They came away with a terrific 3^rd place Rosette!

• Ted also won the title of Arden Grange Starter Dog 2007 at Shuttleworth show in August 2007 – What a year!

And just to show how the Toller breed is giving the 'black and whites' a run for their money, the Agility League Tollers have gained:-

Kennel Club Shows

• 24   first places

• 35   second places

• 177 placed rosettes

• 227 unplaced clear rounds

Non-Kennel Club Shows

• 11 second places

• 30 placed rosettes

• 41 unplaced clear rounds

We would also like to congratulate those handlers who achieved a 1^st which is no mean feat.

At Kennel Club shows, Amanda Hampson with Minx (Winfren Vulpecula Kayla) had numerous placings amongst which were a staggering 16 firsts and 29 seconds! Jane King with Quito (Kymin Pleasure Zeal) have also had an exceptional year! In amongst their many placings they gained a 1^st place at Aylesbury, a 1^st place at The Agility Club (Chieveley) in July, a 1^st and a 2^nd place at Axstane and another 2^nd place at Vyne! Understandably, this now places Jane and  Quito into Grade 3 Classes!

At Norfolk Gill Aitken and Ted ((Decoymans Just Joey) won 1st place in April 2007. This now places Gill and Ted in Grade 3 Classes! Klaus Deiter Scholz with Odo (Newfanova Barnaby Bear) had a great week at Northern Agility Show in August where they won one 1st  and two 2nd placings! Debbie Davies with Tommy (Decoymans Piper Iceberg of Stonebeech) won 1st place in an ABC Helter Skelter Class at Golden Valley in June 2007.

At non-Kennel Club shows, Gerard Redman and Tehya (Paludic Piccolo) and Gill Aitken and Ted (Decoymans Just Joey) did well.

Well done to Junior Handler Chantelle Draper and Rusty (Decoymans Piper Iceman) and Veteran Dog (open to all members dogs aged 7 years and over) Tag (Wathbeck Justin Time), with Linda Graham.

There hasn't been an appropriate section in the Toller League Results 2007/8 for Keri Graham running Cathy Shaw's Solli (Newfanova Nordic Pizzazz) as they ran in ordinary classes, not Juniors, but she gained many of Solli's total points, including two 3rd places!
